Booziest milkshakes in town! SCOUTMOB FAVES

excerpts taken from An atlbrowngirl and atlanta fave app scoutmob!

The laws of childhood dictate that the single best summertime weapon is a frozen dessert. The laws of adulthood dictate that the single best summertime weapon is aspiked frozen dessert. We're not total lushes (not all the time, anyway), but something about adding a splash of booze to a popsicle or a scoop of ice cream just sets our hearts aflutter. (Really, though, how could the words "Bourbon Chocolate Milkshake" not send you into a frenzy?) Below, a handful of our favorite spots around town to slurp, sip, and spoon up some frosty hooch:

West Egg Cafe: Their fried green tomatoes, PB&J burger, and Coca-Cola cupcakes are beloved by many, but the bustling Westside cafe's bourbon chocolate milkshake is downright famous. You can try your hand at it with this recipe, but take it from me: no one can serve it up quite like these guys. (For best results, you'll want to add those Coca-Cola cupcakes to your order, too.)

Grindhouse Killer Burgers: Sure, you could finish off that beast of a burger with a creamy, delicious oreo milkshake. Or, you could do it like a pro and knock back one of Grindhouse's several grown-up milkshakes—there's the El Duderino, a chilly coffee/kahlua/vodka concoction, and a frosty Oreo, Whynatte, and peppermint liqueur elixir known as the Stimulus Package.

Rooftop 866: We're already smitten with this swank joint's scenic vista overlooking the dead-center of Midtown. But when you throw boozy pops into the equation, it's a whole 'nother level of infatuation. The rotating selection of popsicles include such frozen cocktails as mojito, blueberry limoncello, and Bloody Mary, and at only $4 a pop, you could probably toss back a couple of 'em. Just don't get too close to the edge there, cowboy.

The Corner Tavern: Bless their hearts, Atlanta's beloved tavern has teamed up with Atlanta's beloved popsicle king to create a holy matrimony of delicious. The rotating selection of "Poptails" combine the goodness of King Of Pops with a dash or two of hooch. Frozen cocktail on a stick? This could turn into a situation.

Victory Sandwich Bar: Ah, the Slushy: that most humble and refreshing of gas station summertime treats. But at this Inman Park sammich spot, Electric Blue or Strawberry Kiwi ain't on the menu. The reuptations of Victory's Jack 'n Coke slushies nearly exceed those of their sandwich counterparts, and for good reason. Slush Puppies have nothing on these bad boys. And after a couple of them, you'll be extra-agile for a game of ping pong.

Frozen Pints: We love ice cream. We love craft beer. And we love that Frozen Pints has married them in one delicious, frosty container, now conveniently available at Hop City, Green's, Tower, and a few other fine institutions. From the light and fruity Peach Lambic to the hearty, creamy Malted Milk Chocolate Stout, there is one for every kind of beer lover out there. Me? I'll take all of 'em.

Top 10 Water Parks in America

Hey ATLaliens:

(doesnt that name sound like we are some other worldly beings? perhaps we are..it is a different world here in our fair city :-) and you gotta love it!) On to the reason I am gushing about our metropolis. how about we made a national ranking of one of the top water parks in America? pretty cool huh? and of course there are a few other best kept secrets that we won't let the nation in on...the private beach at Acworth; Lake Lanier world; and of course the rec Center at Browns Mill..well ahh..erra ok...Browns Mill may not be a travel destination but it sure is a local favorite for my 7 year old so its on the list!! :-) can you say it with me? "ATLANTA ROCKS!" smooches, your ATLBROWNGIRL

Our Top 10 Favorite Water Parks In America

There’s no better place for family bonding or white knuckle thrill rides than a water park. America is home to some of the best and biggest water parks in the world. Skip the back yard sprinkler and head to one of these H2O filled destinations.

10. Water World
Location: Denver, Colorado
Offering year round activities, Denver boasts a place for summer thrills when you’re not hitting the slopes. The 67-acre Water World is best known for Voyage to the Center of the Earth, where riders encounter huge animatronic dinosaurs as they inner-tube into the darkness.
Not feeling that adventurous? The Big Top Family Fun Zone offers a place to take it easy with the pint-sized patrons.

9. Zoombezi Bay
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Zoombezi Bay is owned and operated by the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. The 22-acre park features 17 state of the art water slides
You can also spend time with the resident wildlife next door at the zoo or visit Jungle Jack’s Landing amusement park.

8. Splish Splash
Location: Long Island, New York
This water park is the perfect weekend escape from bustling New York City. Opened in 1991, this 96-acre park features 30 rides, including a lazy river spanning 1,300 feet.

7. Water Park of America
Location: Bloomington, Minnesota
Located just a half mile from Mall of America, it’s the perfect retreat from a day of shopping. The indoor water park is 70,000 square feet, and features a 10-story-tall raft waterslide that’s so long, it even travels outside the building.

6. Six Flags White Water
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Six Flags operates theme parks across the country, and many also have adjacent water parks. Get the combo pass and enjoy both Six Flags Over Georgia and White Water.
At White Water, you can experience The Cliffhanger

5. Kalahari
Location: Sandusky, Ohio
The African-themed Kalahari is a water park resort chain with three locations, with the largest located in Sandusky, Ohio. At 173,000 square feet, it’s the largest indoor water park in the United States.
The Swahili Swirl will give you the feeling of being flushed down a toilet as an inner tube sends you around a 60-foot-diameter bowl before sucking you down a drain. Don’t worry, it’s clean.

4. Aquatica
Location: Orlando, Florida
Become one with the dolphins year round at Aquatica, located next to SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. The most popular ride is the Dolphin Plunge, where you’ll literally race through an underwater world filled with playful Commerson’s dolphins in 250 feet of clear tubes.
Then, relax at the 80,000-square-foot man-made white-sand beaches or check out the animal habitats.

3. Noah’s Ark
Location: Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin
Wisconsin Dells is known for its legendary water parks, and Noah’s Ark is the biggest. You’ll find 51 water rides sprawling across 70 acres. There’s even a 4-D movie theater.
With so much to do, it’s easy to see why The Travel Channel has named Noah’s Ark one of America’s Best Waterparks for over 10 years.

2. Blizzard Beach
Location: Orlando, FL
The story goes that a freak snow storm blanketed Florida, and up sprang Blizzard Beach, one of two water parks in Walt Disney World Resort.
As with any Disney park, the attention to detail is incredible, and there are attractions for any age. Thrill-seeking adults can take the ski lift to the top of Summit Plummet — one of the world's tallest and fastest free-fall body slides.

1. Schlitterbahn
Location: New Braunfels, Texas
Originally opened in 1979 with four water slides, Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort has grown to one of the biggest and best in the world. It was built along the spring-fed Comal River, and most of the water used in Schlitterbahn West actually comes from the river. The water is filtered, cleaned and released back into the river without chemicals.
In 1994, Schlitterbahn opened the first uphill water ride, known as the Dragon Blaster. Another uphill water coaster, Master Blaster, has been voted as the best water ride in the world by several travel publications.

Excerpts taken from the Geico magazine 2012
—one of the tallest free-falls in the world. You’ll plummet 9 stories into the water below.

Your most amazing life

Everyone that knows me well will tell u I am serious about wellness and experiencing joy..I have a young child and my goal is to be youthful enough to enjoy his kids well into my retirement! So I put the hard work in now.I shed ALOT of pounds..run at least a couple of miles a day..try to only cook in olive oil ..steam or grill..reduce all carbs..limit sweets..learned to love veggies..eliminate stressful events and people and most of all..I have a zeal for life!

My goal is to have an adventure everyday.. Even if that means taking a new route to work or baking cookies with my son and we use red sugar instead of green sprinkles the next time..lol..the key to balanced living is to focus on the extraordinary in the everyday transactions of our lives..walking to the mailbox? Listen for the birds chirping..under the hair dryer at the salon? Meditate for 20 mins and give ur mind permission to run free and i guarantee u at least one amazing idea will blow you away with its persistence..the thought of cooking dinner bore u silly? Cook pancakes for ur family! here's some of my ideas for breathing again and learning to grab life by the keister and enjoy! I'd love to hear ur ideas too at atlbrowngirl@gmail.com or like me on Facebook!

**Redecorate ur bedroom and make it as peaceful and tranquil as possible..luxe sheets and comforter..lots of cozy pillows..room darkening curtains or blinds..a good nights sleep does wonders for the soul!

**Run to gospel music early in the morning and then turn to rock, pop or hip hop and belt out a few verses :-)

**Sketch..doodle..knit..crossword puzzles....try a new recipe...learn the lyrics to a fave song..read non fiction..write..everyday do something to unleash a creative part of ur soul and slow down the effects of mental aging by keeping ur brain active!

**Get up b4 sunrise..and watch the sunrise while drinking ur tea or java in ur pjs..instant awe!

**Ask ur kids compelling questions...is God real? Is it raining in spain? what is the most fun job in the world? And delight in their answers

**Have a dream board of amazing destinations to visit..and even if u can't get to one vacation a year have a "stay-cation" where u take a day or two off work go the spa or drive to a local neighboring town and if budget permits stay overnite and let the kids eat something fun in bed in their pjs in the hotel room !

**Reinvent ur self every few years..get a new haircut..wear a bold new color..try a new cuisine..embark on a new career..try something new (cooking school class? Sip and stroke class)..train to run a marathon...just do it!

**Every holiday do it big..Valentines Day? I decorate my home with all things red and big juicy hearts..Halloween? Its a frightfest wth talking skulls and lots of delicious scary fun..Chmas? Everywhere u look I try to infuse reminders of the season including apple cider and pumpkin fragrant oils in each room..Easter? U got it...colored Easter eggs are everywhere...get the idea? Make every holiday an excuse to celebrate life!

**Believe in the kindness of good works..Have u done a random act of kindness today? Smiled at ur neighbor? Stopped to compliment ur coworkers new hairstyle? Bought groceries or ran errands for a senior citizen church member? Told ur friend u love them because --- fill in the blank..or here's my fave..pay for the persons coffee standing behind u in the line in Starbucks.. And see the delighted look on their face...see how easy it is to make someone's day? Come on.. I dare u to stop thinking of ur own troubles for a sec and be a global citizen for a few mins a day every day..it will change u!

**Every thought about changing careers...what would u do free? Love to cook? Take a pastry class..Ever dreamed of owning ur own company? Call the local chamber of commerce and take the young entrepreneurs boot camp for founding and owning ur own business..when ur side hustle starts making paper don't quit ur full time job..but when ur passion starts making more money than ur gig..well u kno what to do..some of the most successful companies on the planet were founded by folks who were frustrated by their ft job!

Dream..love..dance...sing...laugh...u have one life to live...what will u do in the next year that will be memorable and life changing in its positivity...

Go ahead...dare to dream...today starts your amazing life!

Secret Crushes

so u know your girl is always on the grind for you :-) i love visiting new spots in the city and i had the great fortune to get an invitation from one of my favorite guy friends (hey Keith! :-)to check out one of the Hottest new spots in this magic city, The Museum Bar off Ralph Abernathy.

The Museum Bar has been getting much pub lately...they hosted Fantasia's listening party...the recent meet and greet with Tyler Perry's cast of his new show "For Better or Worse" premiering this month..and I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the local r&b sensation Fillipia's show on Thanksgiving nite!

Ahhhhh....The Museum Bar.i am crushing on you! :-) all u have to do is login to their website and u too will be instantly transported to the smooth, sexxy ambiance that this awe-inspiring space delivers...and the sheer versatility delighted my event planning mind....from the moment u step up the stairs to the canopy and walk thru the heavy plate glass door..i was truly impressed with the gorgeous bars on every level..the main open air kitchen and brunch space...the 3rd floor huge patio with skyline views..and the main attraction downstairs is a full venue space for concerts, parties..and a nightclub style dance floor and of course..it's own dedicated bar...

I had the great pleasure of speaking with one of the owners, Darrell Smith..he was such an interesting gentleman..and spoke of his inspiration for this bar to showcase his jaw dropping private collection of art work..and the desire to give the gorgeous people of atlanta a place to meet, greet, relax and kick back in a space inspired by the design aesthetic of the W hotel properties. And this starkly modern vibe in a 100 year old gothic church? genius!

Well Mr. Smith here's to u and the Museum Bar..ATLBROWNGIRL's new crush..and I hope soon to be yours too. Bon appetit!

Special Feature: Harbour Bar and Fish House

OMG..I am in love! :-) This big ole juicy spot in downtown decatur has taken over the spot formerly occupied by the mexican spot Tesoro..and oh mama! Have they completely transformed the space..it is a totally delightful seafood experience..when u step thru the doors of this fish house u can literally hear Jimmy Buffett singing in your head and feel like u are in one of those fish spots in Key West..they have a full complement of fried fish baskets..chef entrees..sandwiches..salads and even a kiddie menu that even the most discriminating kid tatse bud would be pleased..and here's the kicker..the hushpuppies are delish! U see I'm a southern girl and if your hushpuppies are not on point..well it will wreck your whole dining experience..but trust ur girl..pretty much everything on the menu is a solid choice..when u stop by tell the Manager Linda that atlbrowngirl sent u in! And make sure when the weather breaks u check out their gorgeous wrap around porch. there are plans to even offer crab boils in the future...how can you resist a crab boil? :-0

As ur girl is always on the scene checking out the newest and hottest openings, they have just opened this week and are still fine-tuning the menu. A little birdie told me that they plan to offer some lunch specials in the near future..And if u are the oak grove neighborhood check out their sister restaraunt and another atlbrowngirl favorite..Napoleons..smooches!

Quirky spots that are ATL favorites

i love this city! on any given night u can stumble into a spot that will blow ur mind with their creativity..let me give u a few examples:

Sister Louisa's Church of the Living Room and Ping Pong Emporium
466 Edgewood Ave

Don't even think about visiting this spot if you have some religious hangups..it is hilarious and u must be in the mood to hang loose, stare at some tongue-in-cheek artwork and get your ping pong on man!

Sack Lunch Company
This cute little food stand is totally hilarious and at the same time so comforting and yummy..they are located in the heart of Downtown Atlanta in a small green building located in the Food District on Broad Street. Here's the kicker..u can get a sandwich, chips, a juice box and gushers and "Mom" will put a cool note inside ur sack lunch with sayings like "Wash your hands" or "Mom loves you"..It's nice being a grown-up but who doesnt love mama? :-)and u can even buy a snoopy lunch pail or other novelty items.. It's like being back in middle school except the kid at the next lunchtable won't be kicking u in the keister and taking your lunch..lol...supercool!

Beauty Feature - Eyebrow Threading

Ladies if you are like me..i like my brows to be on point! after all the eyes are the passport to your soul..so i'm sure you want your eyes to say "i am fierce!"..lol...i am very particular about the services that i have done to my brows to keep them in shape...at one point back in the day i would razor my brows..but lord they grew back so fast..and then the miracle of waxing was born..but first they apply hot wax..and then when they tear that little strip of muslin off your face..oooweee! u should be ready to grip the side of the chair :-0 so then i discovered the amazing process of threading..for those of you who haven't had the oppty to experience this beauty process...a clinician will take a piece of string and somehow run it across the stray hairs on your brow to remove the stray hairs...and the result is so precise and amazing...if you try it i guarantee u will love it..now do be aware that the service is not painless, but hey the price of beauty is high! :-) hope u enjoy my recommendations on top places in the city to enjoy threading..

Feel the Burn Baby!

ok folks...as we have all noticed summertime is upon us...time to shed those jackets and drop it like its hot..erra i mean drop the heavy clothes because its hot..lol..

are u body ready? i never feel like i can exercise enough...the guilt of falling off the horse during the cold winter months always spurs me into action in the spring..

so that brings me to why i am up every morning at 5:30 and on the workout field with 10 other bootcampers doing the most insane workout in Atlanta...

on a given day we run 1/4 a mile..stop and do jumping jacks..lunges...pushups..situps..the plank and get up and run 1/4 a mile again..we may jump rope..do interval training..or run suicide drills up and across the workout field..for 45 mins to an hour...all before 7 am!

Believe me if it sounds brutal..it is the most amazing fun..and the folks at Operation Boot Camp give u ur money's worth as they show up with 5-6 trainers everyday..the class is small with only usually no more than 10 participants so its like having ur own personal trainer..i feel amazing...my eating habits are no longer as trashy as they once were (im still a foodie..i just make better choices now :-)and im begginning to fit into things i havent been able to ooze into since like..forever!

and by the way..DO NOT COME TO THE PROGRAM IF U DONT WANT TO SWEAT..at the end of this workout u will be dripping wet..possibly covered in grass (its totally outdoors) and feeling so freakin' amazing that u will want to run instead of drive home :-)

trust ur girl..this is amazing..im not getting a dime for this testimonial..i just thought I'd shout out the great folks at Operation Boot camp and give u the opportunity to check out one of the best workouts in atlanta..and they are conveniently located all over the city...sign up for a month and i promise u will be hooked...leave me a comment if u decide to check it out..i may be out there too!

Hot Summer Nites in the City!

So have u noticed summer is a coming?? lol...good lord a blazes is it hot...already! if u are like me..i lay in the cut under the air and only slink out the house in the cool of the evening at dusk :-) so can we talk date nite? lets say u and ur honey are looking for something fun to do that is off the beaten path...u dont feel like heading to a restaraunt...a bar is just ho-hum..u dont feel like sitting in the movie theater..u want to hang out at the park but the bugs are vicious this time of year...so how about combining all 4 of those ideas into one fun date! (without the bugs of course)

Can anyone shout Drive In!!

Last summer my honey surprised me and took me to the drive in and we had the best time! There was lots of trashy snacks...beer...great first run movies and of course lots of hand holding and snuggling :-) (ok keep it clean folks the kiddees may be watching :-) but seriously...i had no idea the drive-in could be so fun..and when u are with the one that makes your heart beat faster..well it is a perfect date nite...So drive..dont walk to the Starlight Drive-In on Moreland..u will thank ur girl for introducing this old fave back onto your radar. Smooches!

Cargill Gallery

Have you ever been somewhere and when you walk in it just feels like home? Well that's the warm and fuzzy feeling i get everytime i walk in Cargill Gallery. Your girl is a huge art fan...Wine, art, cheese and great conversation makes a great Sunday afternoon...I have artists that are my faves all over the city (for instance do check out Corey Whitehead!! he had a showing this weekend..amazing...http://www.myspace.com/funkysoulmovment)

But back to the reason for this post...This husband and wife art team are amazing artisians and craftsmen. I call them that because the art they make is not just images on a canvas..they make you feel the images...they have a network of artists that bring their wares to the gallery and they are equally as amazing..

I first learned of them as they have a neat little gallery tucked inside Northlake Mall in my hood here in Tucker. What first caught my eye was how amazingly affordable the artwork was!!! OMG..i have traveled all over the world collecting art..and let me tell you...some of these pieces are orginals and the prices blew me away at how reasonable they are...

I had the great pleasure of stumbling into their other Gallery location at Pleasant Hill in Gwinnet Place Mall...wow...the gallery is very cozy..it is easy to walk around in the space and see all the artwork in all its glory hanging on the wall..and the resident artist on staff and manager David(along with being adorable ladies) was so willing to do whatever to please the clientele..he does original artwork to your specification...and the deals are equally as refreshing..

run don't walk to this art oasis..There are three gallary locations throughout the Atlanta area to serve you:

Mall of Georgia - 770.866.9938

Gwinnett Place Mall - 770.866.9910

Northlake Mall – 678.830.8593

The Working Girl's Guide To: The Bathroom Blues

Everyone that knows me well knows i am OCD about my kitchens and bathrooms..i am so bad that i will let things stay as is until i can get in there and blast behind the microwave...scrub on my hands and knees behind the toilet..and scrub the grout in the shower with a toothbrush until it gleams...that's right...i'm confessing to you my deepest darkest secrets..i drift to the darkside when i start cleaning.lol...i love it so that i seem to zone out in my head and when i come to..the kitchen and bathroom are sparkling...lol..for all those working girls who are not my soul sisters in this regard then i'm feeling you..your girl is always on the job for the working girl...you know the heart and soul of ATLBROWNGIRL is to provide working girls and stay at home moms and dads options for taking their kids to fun places, date spots for you and your boo..fun places for family excursions..markets to grab a great meal for your fam or your boo if it's been a long crummy day at work...and most of all i hope you make my website your resource for hanging out with your family or your boo in our lovely city...

but back to the title..i am starting a new series called "The Working Girl's Guide to.." and i will post all kinds of nifty ideas for making it work..in less time...never fear stay at home moms and dads..and single moms and dads...i give you big love too...we all have the same concerns..how do we either take care of ourselves in a hectic world..or take care of a family...and still take care of all the daily things that are required in our life...so here's my first in the series...How to Blast Your Bathroom Clean..in half the time...i hope you love it as much as I enjoyed writing this for you.. My focus for this post is to give big love to the Working girls...honey i know..sometimes you have to make it work! in 1/2 the time..lol..so here are tips for making it sparkle, and all types of nifty tips to get thyself out the door in record time to you it! either get your money on..so you can head to some of the fun spots in our wonderful city...

Lastly for my green folks..your girl has lots of environmentally friendly tips to help make us feel good about getting our clean on...lol...Toodles and L&K,

Cleaning Tile -To get in the nitty gritty, spray the whole shower esp in the grout with Tilex Mildew Root Penetrator..you will see it by different names but that Tilex Mildew remover is the truth..then spray Mean Green Mildew Remover over it..cut on the fan and walk out overnite...voila in the morning all you have to do is run the hot water before you take your shower and the mildew has magically disappeared...yeah baby! mama does not like to scrub so if you let it set overnite that is the key..it is stinky but all worth the trouble...for folks that have the dreaded white grout in between your colored tile, then dip a thin sponge paintbrush in distilled white vinegar and apply it directly to the grout before you do the mean green/tilex application..it gets hard water deposits and mildew and soap scum out...

Toilet - To bust that rust, and lime and hard water stains..pour table salt directly on the stain..then squeeze a fresh lemon on a bowlbrush or heavy duty papertowel and scrub..the acid in the lemon when combo with the salt will remove stains...then you can follow up with your Lysol toilet cleaner for up under the bowl and around the outside if you have little men that (ahem) miss the mark at the toilet on the regular...lol

Shower curtains - if you are lucky enough to have a standup shower with a glass shower door, then shower curtains are SOP in your home like mine..i hate when the little mildew and soap scum gathers on those boogers...problem solved! just toss them in the washing machine with vinegar and let it soak for 2 hours...then resume the cycle and voila! your shower curtain looks like brand new again...

Faucets and mirrors - Wipe your mirrors with a sponge soaked in hot vinegar..if you are like me and sometimes you are in a hurry..then Glass Plus wipes..they are awesome and reusable...great idea! I also spray Mean Green around the faucet while i am wiping the mirrors and let it set for a moment,..when i am thru using the Glass plus wipes i use to wipe my faucets...hey now..am i practical or what? lol

Bathtub - my little 5 year old bathtub king uses bubbles everynite for his bathie..somehow that cuts down on a bathring..but for your big kids who have long let Mr. Bubble go..unsightly bathtub rings are a drag...lol..the green option is to place salt on the ring and scrub..if you haven't guessed already...i am a big fan of Mean Green...it is a mothersucka on dirt honey...i have never seen such an environmentally product that is so tough..did the military make this stuff? lol..spray Mean Green on your bathtub ring, take a soft cloth that is damp and spray a bit of liquid cleanser like liquid ajax (doesn't scratch) and you know it! clean as a thistle...Ditto this procedure for your sink...it works i promise...

Walls - if you are lucky enough to have painted walls great...no fuss..but if you have bathroom tile like we do in our 1970's explosion of a bathroom..then wipe down the walls with a damp cloth soaked in vinegar or u got it..Mean Green...by the way i get my Mean Green and all cleaning supplies from Family Dollar...i save all my pennies for eating out..but u already had guessed that right? lol

ATL Hidden Spots

So i was enjoying my TIVO last weekend and checked out one of my fave culinary shows on PBS..and lo and behold this guy knew what he was talking about! he named some of my fave "hidden restaurants" that are best kept secrets to only those Atlantians that are in the know..you know the kind of spot where perhaps they are a "mom and pop" joint that is a family affair..or a neighborhood fixture that not only serves your appetite, but also does a community service..or places with hours that are mysterious but somehow all the foodie groupies know exactly when to catch them open..if you are curious check out the Big Guy with the Red Beard on the attached link...http://www.pba.org/programming/programs/getdelicious/

But on to my picks for ATL Hidden Spots..these are off the beaten path..you won't find long articles written about them in the local media..but OMG are they good...they are not fancy..but the restaurant is clean..the service is friendly and if you become a regular the wait staff will greet you with a warm hello..Holla at your girl if you love my list...but SHHHHHH this will be our little secret...lol

FEATURE OF THE MONTH: SAUCED

Don't you love when you discover something new? when i discover a new restaurant that is off the beaten path..it feels like a delicious little secret that i can nibble on and keep to myself..or share with my loyal followers! :-)

One of just those type of finds is SAUCED..the newest foray by famed ATL Chef Ria..

Ria started Ria's Bluebird Cafe and has consistently delivered one of the city's best comfort breakfasts hands down! this lady makes a mean pancake..brisket ...and her bionic breakfast with tofu sprouts, pan seared tilapia and skillet potatoes is the breakfast of champions..lol..all in the coolest Grant Park location, across from the infamous Oakland Cementary on Boulevard

Sauced is her latest baby and oh i am so glad she birthed this one Ms. Scarlet..lol...this restaurant is a fresh take on "new south" food and the decor was so cute and kitschy that my dinner companion and i sat and laughed at how "Dad's Den" as the dining room is called reminded us of our parent's 1970's basement complete with paneling and knick-knacks that I know my mom still has from back in the day...

And let me mention that my dinner companion is one of the most discriminating foodies on the planet...she was doing the whole organic and "farm to table" concept 30 years ago...if she says it is fresh and the food is good..then bet your bottom dollar it is the bomb..(hey Kay!!) The food was intentionally thoughtful..the black-eyed pea fritters..sweet potato fries ..3 course skewers and lemon ice box pie made me swoon...and then there was this big ole biscuit thing that Ria stuffed with a Brisket that was positively melt in your mouth..and of course the signature sauces were awesome and a great accompaniment to the meal...

lord god if it weren't for the fact my boss would miss me i'd go right now! lol...i love this new hot spot in Inman Park..it is hanging on the edge of Edgewood Avenue and just a smidge away from Krog Street..

Run don't walk to check out this new gem...I challenge you to find something on the menu that is not fun, delicious and inventive!

Your Guide to "In-Town" Living

Are you new to Atlanta? Do you wonder what all the terminology like "inside the perimeter" "in-town" and "close to the beltway" means?

Well dahlings here is your definitive guide to becoming an Atlanta hipster..when i first moved here i couldn't understand all the hype about living "inside the perimeter" which basically means you are close to downtown...living "in-town" means again you are close to downtown, but in a residential section of town...lastly "close to the beltway" means..you guessed it! you can jump on 285 in a few seconds and reach downtown within 15 mins or so...so where are the premiere "Intown Neighborhoods"? Stick with me..i've scoured this town looking for the most popular spots that urban professionals call home..this list is certainly not all-inclusive...there are plenty of hidden secrets that you will discover that will make your heart sing..but here are a few of my faves...those popular spots where if you have the cash, and a sense of adventure and love for city living..they are perfect for those seeking a hip fun lifestyle:

- Midtown (roughly 3rd to 15th Street and Piedmont to West Peachtree) is very trendy and popular. Mostly high-rise condos walkable to clubs, restaurants and Piedmont Park. For a long time this was considered a gay neighborhood and it's still very gay-friendly. It's pricey for Atlanta, but probably still cheap compared to SF.

- Virginia-Highlands (the Highlands) is right off that long stretch of East Ponce on Highland Ave...it's very residential and family friendly.. some rental houses and duplexes as opposed to high-rise apartments, but it's still a lot of young professionals. There are a bunch of bars in the Highlands but it's more of a community pub scene as opposed to dance clubs...it can be pricey but there are still deals to find esp in this economy

- Buckhead. the traffic is daunting in this hot spot neighborhood..there's a lot of celebrity sightings..and wanna be celebrities that hang out in Buckhead..but don't be fooled..there is real class here too...and a lot to love.A few great bars are left since the bit push toward "residentializing" this busy neighborhood...some good restaurants in Buckhead Village. Lenox Mall and Phipps Plaza, Atlanta's two upscale shopping malls, are also in this area.

- Little Five Points/Inman Park/Candler Park -- Little Five Points is the restaurant/shopping area and Inman and Candler are the residential neighborhoods nearby. "Lil 5" as it is affectionately called used to be a very edgy bohemian area but has become a lot more user-friendly as of late..

- Decatur -- Is technically a suburb of Atlanta, but is not the suburbs as you probably think of them. Has a cute little square with bars and restaurants; they're building a lot of new condos over the storefronts. It's a relatively easy commute into town and pretty inexpensive compared to some of the sheer amenities you will discover here esp in Downtown Decatur.

- East Atlanta -- is still what most people would consider a "transitional" neighborhood, in that it used to be a sketchy area but lots of families and young professionals are moving in. That makes it pretty affordable..

**Shout out to the Trip Advisor for giving Atlanta love on your website
